Resounding cheers showed appreciation for the Latitude Kazoo band, Lost Shaker Cheerleading group and Latitude Margaritaville Line Dancers.“ This is the day when we just embrace our inner child and let go,” laughs Latitude Margaritaville Lifestyle Director Ramona Ward.“ Hula Hoops, check! Squirt guns and water balloons, check! Frozen boat drinks and burgers, check!” she adds with a flourish.
Games included‘ Hungry, Hungry Sharko,’ a‘ Baby Shark’ dance contest, and a‘ Baby Shark’ song singalong. Some of the grandparents may remember the song. The happy tune was all the rage for the toddler to age five set a few years ago.( Few grandparents escaped hearing it again and again.)
While residents had a great time enjoying the day of fun, they also were playing for a cause to raise funds for some of their favorite charitable organizations.
Fins Up! Fun Day is the spirited kickoff to the Latitude Margaritaville Summertime to Give annual charity drive. Community groups selected this year are Boys and Girls Club of Hardeeville and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“ Latitude Margaritaville residents are always at the ready to help their neighbors in the greater community,” notes Ramona.“ While they enjoyed the day of fun and games with friends, they also know they have helped put a smile on a child’ s face along the way.”
