Fins Ball has grown organically with neighbors recruiting neighbors to form teams . Currently , there are 36 teams at Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head and 20 teams at Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach . Latitude Margaritaville Watersound recently added Fins Ball to their activities menu and is starting to form teams .

Seeing that Fins Ball is here to stay , Minto built two beautiful Fins Fields at Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head where it all started — appropriately named Fins to the Left and Fins to the Right . Today , there are umpires from the HLM Veterans Group , announcers called the Squawkers , line judges , team sponsors , cheerleaders , team mascots and a concession stand run by 80 volunteers that supports Canine Companions , a fan favorite charity .

Games take place on Sundays and the action starts with everyone from spectators to players loading up their 10 ’ x10 ’ tents and coolers and heading out in a golf cart parade with team flags flying and spirits high . Teams have colorful names like Pink Ladies in Paradise , Sharkanators , Last Call , Bat Attitudes , The Newbies , Frozen Concoctions , Sultans of Swing , Base Invaders and Chuggers Not Sluggers , to name a few .

“ We have a playlist , fly the American flag and play the Star Spangled Banner before every game . It ’ s just like going to the ballpark ,” says Latitude Margaritaville Lifestyle Director Ramona Ward . “ On game day every team has a colorful flag of some sort . Some flags are huge and teams have fun stealing the flags of other teams on game days . It ’ s not unusual for a team member to spot a competing team ’ s flag planted in their front yard .”
