SAWING AND SEWING for a good cause
AT LATITUDE MARGARITAVILLE DAYTONA BEACH
Latitude Margaritaville residents are known far and wide for sharing their time and talents to help a good cause . A recent example of their generosity was a special project that called for lots of talent , saws , scissors , teddy bear stuffing and crochet hooks .
The Making Dust Woodworking Club of Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach has been putting the Latitude Town Center ’ s Workin ’ N ’ Playin ’ woodworking shop to great use ! The talented group spent many hours creating a cache of wooden toys to donate to Camp Boggy Creek — a very special place that provides a unique opportunity for children with serious illnesses to experience a fun camping experience in a safe , medically sound environment .
The ladies of the community couldn ’ t let the opportunity to create special surprises for the kids pass them up so the Artists and Crafters Club of Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach made and donated cuddly “ Boggy Bears ” and cozy afghan blankets . Club members Carolyn Sprague , Maris ( Breezy ) Connor , Vicki Richey , Dawn Morrisette and Charlene Avarbock all contributed their talents toward the project .
Located in Eustis , Florida , Camp Boggy Creek was founded in 1996 by actor Paul Newman and General H . Norman Schwarzkopf on the premise that every child , no matter their illness , could experience the transformational spirit and friendships that go hand in hand with camp . Programs are free of charge to campers and their families .
