This summer , Latitude Margaritaville residents participated in the Margaritaville Summer Time to Give program , raising $ 1,200 in value through monetary donations and purchased supplies to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County . It was the beginning of what is planned to be a beautiful friendship with this outstanding organization that serves young people from disadvantaged economic , social and family circumstances in the Panama City area .
A lively bingo game at Latitude Margaritaville Watersound also was earmarked to contribute to the cause . Bingo jackpot winner and soonto-be Latitude Margaritaville Watersound resident , Phil Hardiman , set the tone by donating his $ 200 jackpot win to Boys & Girls Clubs . Parrotheads . “ We call this partying with a purpose ,” says Phil .
“ We ’ re definitely looking forward to giving back . In my generation , service to others was always important . It has always been a part of my life .”
He cites an example , “ One gentleman who ’ s single has to have some surgery and the residents put out a call for meals . I hope he has a big freezer !”
Residents Faye and Jerry Culpepper also joined their neighbors in making a donation at the bingo “ party with a purpose .” They moved to Latitude Margaritaville Watersound from Marietta , Georgia in March . “ The people here are so nice , and everybody is willing to help out ,” says Faye . “ We just love it . When you retire , you have more time to get out there and help people . We want to visit the Boys & Girls Clubs and plan to follow up with them .”
According to CEO Hank Hill , “ The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County is to enable all young people , especially those who need us most , to reach their full potential as productive , caring , responsible citizens . We cannot do this work without community support , so we are grateful and elated to have Latitude Margaritaville Watersound as a new partner to help us change lives ."
He points out that , in addition to helping the greater community , Latitude Margaritaville residents are always at the ready to help one another .
