“ There is so much to do here,” says Sheila.“ You can be as busy as you want or as laid back as you want.” Sheila is a member of the Latitude Euchre Club and Margaritaville Paradise Singers choir. She also is involved with Turtle Trackers, a group that puts the beach to bed in the evening by raking, breaking down sand castles and filling holes so turtles won’ t be blocked and turn back when they come from the water to the beach. She points out that this is just one of many community groups and causes supported by her friends and neighbors at Latitude Margaritaville.
Huck plays golf with the Latitude Men’ s Golf Hackers and loves to cook and invite people over to just hang out.“ We love to entertain. We have a tradition of celebrating Jimmy’ s life every August 30 or September 2 and have a big party here.
At one of our parties, we had 50 people at our house. Someone asked if I knew all of the people and I was able to answer,‘ Yep. Every single one,’” he recalls.
The couple also enjoys participating in the many activities and get togethers at Latitude Margaritaville. Their son came to stay with them for a while and, after a weekend when they had a party to go to across the street then a pickleball party the next day his big question was“ Do you guys ever stay home?”
How do the Huckesteins sum up life at Latitude Margaritaville?“ It’ s everything we dreamed of in retirement and more,” says Huck. Sheila concurs,“ It’ s a blessing to be living our best life here. It’ s a dream come true.”
