Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach was top choice for Laurel and Jim Steckel as they planned their retirement move from Northern Virginia . They share a love of the Atlantic Ocean and , after living in Northern Virginia for 29 years , they decided to do something about it .

With each visit to see their daughter and granddaughter in Jacksonville , the Steckels also visited Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach . The right time finally came for them to make their move to Latitude Margaritaville , and they settled into their new Trinidad Bay home on August 3 , 2022 .

“ We knew we were moving into a really friendly community , but it was wonderful to discover how truly welcoming and caring our neighbors are ,” says Laurel . At the time they were moving , Jim had to have back surgery and couldn ’ t lift anything . “ We said it will probably take us a year to get moved in ,” says Laurel . However , the couple was amazed when their new neighbors were at the door every day asking what they could do to help . “ You realize how lucky you are ,” says Laurel . “ It starts right from the beginning . The vibes you get from every single person you meet . Every step of the way people are reaching out to you . It ’ s heartwarming .”
